Discover the science and ritual behind what we do.

Learn more about the benefits of infrared sauna and contrast therapy — how they work, why they matter, and how to make them part of your wellness routine.

Start Your Ritual

At Studio Sweat, we focus on two simple yet powerful modalities: infrared sauna and contrast therapy. Each is designed to help you restore balance, build resilience, and reconnect with your body — in ways that feel both grounded and transformative. Whether you’re here to recover, reset, or simply slow down, our therapies meet you where you are.

Infrared Sauna

  • Infrared saunas use gentle, radiant heat to warm the body directly rather than heating the air around you. This light-based warmth penetrates deeper into muscles and tissues, promoting a more efficient and restorative sweat at lower temperatures than traditional saunas. The result is a deeply detoxifying experience that’s as relaxing as it is rejuvenating.

  • Infrared therapy supports the body’s natural healing processes by improving circulation, flushing toxins, and relieving tension. Regular sessions may help with:

    • Muscle recovery and pain relief

    • Reduced inflammation and joint stiffness

    • Improved sleep and stress management

    • Clearer skin and enhanced detoxification

    • Increased energy and overall wellbeing

  • For most people, 2–3 sessions per week is ideal for maintaining general wellness and relaxation. If you’re using infrared therapy for muscle recovery or detoxification, up to 4 sessions per week can be beneficial. Always listen to your body — consistency is key, but so is balance.

  • Each infrared session is designed to calm both body and mind. You’ll relax in your private suite, where gentle heat builds gradually. Most clients experience a steady, meditative sweat within 15–20 minutes. Afterward, take your time cooling down — we encourage you to rest, hydrate, and move slowly back into your day.

  • Comfort is everything. Most guests prefer minimal clothing or swimwear to allow full skin exposure to the infrared light. We provide fresh towels for comfort and hygiene, and recommend bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated before, during, and after your session.

  • Infrared therapy is safe and effective for most people. However, if you are pregnant, have cardiovascular conditions, or are under medical supervision, we recommend checking with your healthcare provider before booking.

  • Replenish your body by hydrating and allowing time for rest. We recommend drinking plenty of water, replenishing electrolytes, and avoiding heavy meals or alcohol immediately after your session.

Contrast Therapy

  • Contrast therapy is the intentional practice of alternating between heat and cold to stimulate the body’s natural recovery systems. By moving from the soothing warmth of an infrared sauna to the invigorating chill of an ice bath, you create a powerful circulation response that boosts energy, immunity, and resilience — both physically and mentally.

  • Contrast therapy has long been used by athletes, healers, and wellness practitioners to accelerate recovery and restore balance. Regular sessions can help with:

    • Reduced inflammation and muscle soreness

    • Faster recovery and enhanced performance

    • Improved sleep quality and mood regulation

    • Strengthened immune function

    • Increased mental clarity and stress resilience

  • We recommend starting with 1–2 sessions per week and building from there based on your goals. Some clients enjoy the practice daily for mental clarity and stress relief, while others use it strategically for recovery. The key is consistency — and listening to how your body responds over time.

  • Your session will begin in the warmth of the infrared sauna to gently elevate your core temperature, followed by a cold plunge in our ice bath to awaken circulation and deepen recovery. The transition between heat and cold can feel intense but deeply grounding — leaving you feeling reset, re-energised, and clear-headed.

  • We suggest spending 15–25 minutes in the infrared sauna, followed by 2–3 minutes in the ice bath. You can repeat the cycle depending on your comfort and experience level. The goal isn’t endurance — it’s balance and awareness.

  • Swimwear or minimal clothing is recommended for both sauna and ice bath use. We provide towels, robes, and everything you need for comfort between transitions. Don’t forget to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout your session.

  • Contrast therapy is safe for most people, but if you have cardiovascular conditions, are pregnant, or have sensitivity to temperature extremes, please consult your healthcare provider before booking.

  • After your session, allow your body to return to its natural temperature gradually. Stay hydrated, rest if needed, and enjoy the grounded, euphoric calm that follows. Many find this ritual best done in the morning to energise the day, or in the evening to deeply unwind.
